Performance

With our countless technological innovations and legendary, race-inspired engines, Honda has always roared ahead of the curve.

185-hp, 2.4-liter, 16-valve, Earth Dreams DOHC i-VTEC® 4-cylinder Engine

The Earth Dreams DOHC i-VTEC® system enhances the effect of VTEC® on Accord's 4-cylinder engines with Variable Timing Control™, or VTC™. And new, direct-injection technology leads to better combustion and a more efficient use of fuel[1].

278-hp, 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 Engine

The Accord V-6's i-VTEC® system is designed to deliver outstanding performance at any engine speed. And with Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®), you get thrilling acceleration with maximum fuel efficiency[1].

6-Speed Automatic Transmission

We've added a sixth gear to the Accord, because sometimes you just need to kick it up a notch. The 6-speed automatic transmission uses the engine's broad torque curve for brisk acceleration, optimized fuel economy[1] and smooth shifting.

Active Noise Cancellation™ (ANC)

Active Noise Cancellation™ (ANC) uses the audio system to generate out-of-phase sound waves to reduce engine noise inside the cabin and create a more pleasant driving experience.

MacPherson Strut Front Suspension

Upgrade the suspension, upgrade the performance. The MacPherson strut front suspension utilizes a rebound spring in the shock tube that helps the Accord stay connected to the road, so you can corner with greater confidence. The MacPherson strut’s compact design also helps reduce road noise and vibration.

Drive-by-Wire Throttle System

The Drive-by-Wire throttle system helps enhance the driving character of the Accord Coupe. With smart electronics connecting the throttle pedal to the throttle butterfly valve in the intake manifold, the engine response can be optimized to suit the driving conditions and to better match the driver's expectations.

Grade Logic Control

The Grade Logic Control system differs from other computer-controlled shift programming because it can detect driving situations and then set appropriate shift points for the car. It helps your Accord avoid gear hunting on climbs and descents, and it downshifts for added engine braking when needed.

Independent Multi-Link Rear Suspension

The independent multi-link rear suspension provides high lateral rigidity for improved handling. This year, we added a rebound spring to the shock tubes, and that helps the Accord stay tightly connected to the road when cornering.

Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®)

The Accord Sedan's V-6 engine features Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology. This system can activate and deactivate the engine's cylinders as needed to meet the demands of both power and fuel efficiency[1]. When maximum torque is required, all six cylinders are firing. During steady cruising speeds, VCM allows Accord to run on just three cylinders.

Safety

Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for other vehicle occupants, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) II body Structure

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) II body structure features our highest-grade steel yet. ACE is a Honda exclusive body design that utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This helps reduce the force transferred to the cabin and evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles involved.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

All Accord models feature 4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock brakes (ABS). ABS pulses the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup and help the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The system also features Brake Assist, which helps the vehicle come to a stop sooner during emergency braking, and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which distributes brake force among the four wheels based on how much load each wheel is bearing.

Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)

The Accord is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). These airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and/or other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.

SmartVent™ Front Side Airbags

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the SmartVent™ side airbag is designed to deploy and inflate quickly to maximize potential protection for properly seated occupants. This helps to protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body from injury, or vent before fully inflating if an occupant is in the side airbag deployment path, thereby decreasing the likelihood for an airbag-related injury.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

A small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield or, in the case of the Touring model, a radar system mounted in the front grille can detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. When the FCW system calculates that you are at risk of a collision, it immediately activates visual and/or audible alerts[2].

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

A small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield tracks lane markings on the road, and it can detect when the driver is making an unintended lane departure[3]. Visual alerts will light up on the driver’s instrument panel and the system also can provide an audible warning.

Outboard Rear Seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH)

The outboard rear seats feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.

Side Curtain Airbags

The side curtain airbag with rollover sensor module is positioned along the side of the headliner and comes standard on all Accord models. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both the front and outboard rear occupants on the side of impact.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Drivers often unintentionally drive with underinflated tires, and that can result in tire failure, as well as impaired handling and reduced fuel economy. This system monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver when the air pressure in any tire becomes significantly low[4].

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[5] is standard on all Accord models. During an understeer or oversteer condition, it can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power to help restore your intended course.

[2] FCW cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by high interior heat. FCW does not include a braking function. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

[3] LDW only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use. LDW may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

[4] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

[5] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

Environment

We care about our cars. We care about our planet.

It's important to us that while our business grows, our planet prospers, too. We believe in minimizing our environmental impact in every way we can, from how our cars run to how we run our business.

An Emphasis on Efficiency

The 2013 Accord Sedan is our most efficient Accord yet[6]. Four-cylinder models with our continuously variable transmission (CVT) are rated at 36 mpg highway, while V-6 models are rated at 34 mpg highway. And, to keep your trips to the pump as painless as possible, all Accord models run on regular, unleaded gasoline.

Introducing Eco Assist™

The 2013 Accord is the first Accord to feature Eco Assist™, Honda's revolutionary, fuel-efficiency technology. Eco Assist™ has two components that work together to help you get more miles from each fill-up[6]: the ECON button and the efficiency coaching bars.
